So far I only heard and read of “A Guide to the Birds of Wallacea” by Coates & Bishop and of "The Birds of Sulawesi" by Holmes & Phillipps - both out of print. Clicking on the bird's name brings up the species page. Not the first book I would recommend, but a nice addition to a collection. Geographic Area Covered: Dubbo to St George, NSW, Queensland. It is a very different approach from the field-mark system made famous by the Peterson guides, in which identification is based on two or three distinguishing characteristics.

For Australia generally we have found Pizzey and Knight, "Field Guide to the Birds of Australia" to be our favourite. Unique in her all-wood construction and elegant under sail, Sea Cloud is the standard by which all other ships are measured.
